San Clemente is located in South Orange County, about half way between Los Angeles and San Diego, with a population of nearly 66,000. Bordered by San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point, San Clemente is known for its mild weather and Mediterranean climate. The area was first inhabited in the 18^th century by the Juaneño Indians and Spanish settlers, who established villages. It wasn’t until 1925 that the land was purchased and building planned by a former Mayor of Seattle, Ole Hanson.  The Ole Hanson Beach Club was built and dedicated in 1928 and remains a community center for civic, club and family events, boasting an Olympic size pool. 

The neighborhoods in San Clemente are varied with both homes and condominiums in wide price ranges. Many areas are beach close with ocean views. Other areas, such as Marblehead, have hilltop homes with spectacular panoramic views.  Areas located northeast in an area called Forester Ranch with communities like Alisal, Naples, Ridgemore, Villamar, have large family homes with many community amenities, easy access shopping, dining, pools, parks and playgrounds.  The newer Talega community has affordable communities including townhomes and condominiums found in the Alassio, Verano and Trinidad communities.

There are four golf courses and a State Park in San Clemente. The city is considered the premier surfing capital, with many famous surf beaches including Trestles, North Gate, T-Street and The Pier. The San Clemente Art Association hosts and sponsors many art related activities and festivities each year. San Clemente is served by the Capistrano Unified School District including six elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. Local hospitals include Mission Hospital, the region’s designated trauma center, one of only three in the county, as well as Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in San Clemente.
