One of the newer communities in Orange County, Aliso Viejo was incorporated in 2001, neighboring Laguna Beach, close to surf and sand. About 60 miles from Los Angeles and Hollywood, the area is varied with mountain views, cityscapes and many parks. The Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park is a proud feature, spanning North from Laguna Hills all the way to South Laguna. Walking, hiking and biking t rails can be enjoyed.

With a population of about 40,000, the city has a median household income of over $90,000, considered a high wealth area. Attractions include The Aliso Viejo Town Center (with a twenty-one screen theater) has many restaurants, many stores, and a nice mix of boutiques and specialty shops. Adjacent to Aliso’s town center is the Grand Park, which holds annual events, including an Easter Egg Hunt, a Christmas Tree Lighting and Summer Concerts in the park.

The Capistrano Unified School District includes seven elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. There is a private Catholic school serving K-8. Local colleges include Saddleback Community College, Irvine Valley College, The University of California Irvine, and Soka University, a private, four-year liberal arts college. Local hospitals include Mission Hospital, the region’s designated trauma center, one of only three in the county, as well as Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, the only women’s hospital in south Orange County.
